Dear Parents and Carers
This Tuesday we have 3 students in Sydney to take part in Polding Cross Country. Iyla, Marlie and Jake will compete against students from Catholic schools across the northern 1/2 of NSW. Mr Dougherty is there to cheer them on as the manager for the DLSL team. As the venue is new to us, we hope to be able to stream the races in class and follow along but I am unsure what the camera setup is at the International Equestrian Centre. Let's hope we can access a feed. If we can I will share it through Compass.
Today the whole staff has spent the day becoming more familiar with new NSIT School Review tool to better understand our roles in the process which will take place in Week 4, Term 3. This will involve the whole school community being benchmarked against a national tool which is based on understanding where we can grow as a community of learners. It was great to work together today to look at what evidence we have to support us in this process. The review guides us in developing our next 3 year School Improvement Plan responding to the diocesan strategic intent, curriculum developments nationally and our contextual information to support a thriving community of learners to " achieve the fullness of life".
As you know as careful readers of the newsletter each week, we are remaining focused on "service to one another and beyond our school gates", "implementing new syllabus agendas in K-2 and then 3-6 while gaining whole school clarity around our assessment data", "developing a strong team approach to pastoral care" and "restructuring our parent advocacy and agency processes" All big ticket items but being led by different staff and actioned by different teams.
Permission for attendance at the Sports Carnival came out on Thursday. the carnival is on FRIDAY and we hope that many families will join us on the day. The order of events is within the permission portal for your use. I know, that you know, that Stage 3 are hosting a BBQ on the day. It is a walk up and buy BBQ and we have catered for families and extended families in our planning.
On Tuesday we will have our team lunches which we introduced to support the children in knowing bi5 their teams and team members and building a sense of community and belonging.
See you next week

Stage 2 News
In Stage 2 at the moment we are out to save the world! In English we have been learning about serious global environmental issues. We’ve looked at plastic pollution, deforestation, water conservation, overfishing and rubbish waste. Throughout our writing unit we are learning about these issues, researching their impact on our world, and most importantly, working out what we can do to fix them! We are using all this information to write and deliver expositions that will change the habits of our community.
The teachers are SO impressed at the continued effort that the whole class has been putting in. When we see the enthusiasm these children have, we know our earth is going to be in safe hands!
In Maths we have been learning all things multiplication. It seems to be a favourite topic among Stage 2 students, as they have been cheering every day at Maths time. It’s so nice to see kids excited about their learning.
In Religion lately we have been doing some storytelling and retelling stories about Jesus life. One of our favourites has been retelling the story of The Road to Emmaus.
