Dear Parents and Carers
Today the children in senior school completed their Sporting Schools Program -Surfing.
The children have been wonderful to work with and the staff have gone above and beyond to make this a success. This initiative seemed beyond us but the tenacity of Mr Dougherty and the support of our community has seen this both get off the ground and yes we will apply again in 2024. Fingers crossed it gets up again.
This week I had the pleasure to take the children to radio. We have a weekly program on our local community radio at 11am on a Friday. I love watching our students present their ideas and reflections on the week. Ring in to make a request. Mine this week was a Foo Fighters song so they accept all musical interests in the program.
If you arrived before the bell yesterday you would have heard the cheering from the classrooms as the swimmers, Sanne, Kydan, Lola and Clarry were wonderful to see in this arena. Well done all and check the results below.
Cheers
Ann
Call of the Fallen - Meet us at the Cenotaph
On Monday 3rd April the whole school will go to the Yamba Cenotaph to remember those from our community who served with honour, in any area of conflict. We will travel by bus at 11:20am and return by 1pm. we will have a picnic lunch on the hill above Main Beach.
We would love any family who wish to join us for lunch and stay for the call to meet us at 11:30am.
ANZAC March.
Once again we have been invited to join the Anzac March in Yamba. To march with the school please meet us at Stella at about 9am in full school uniform, including hat. We would advise a water bottle might be helpful too.
Survey - Parent Community
Parent representative bodies such as P&Fs and Parent Forums are important ways for schools and
families to work together for the good of the whole school community. All schools in the Diocese of
Lismore are being encouraged to adopt one of two approved models for parent representation in our schools over the next 3 years.
Our school has decided to explore which model would suit our school community best and would like to give all parents and carers the opportunity to offer their opinion.
Holy Week Liturgy - Stations of the Cross
Thursday 6th April after our School Assemblies we will follow the Easter Story by joining in the Stations of the Cross. All are welcome to attend or stay after the assembly to walk the story around the school.
RE News
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is a Christian holiday that occurs on the Sunday before Easter. This celebration commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, mentioned in each of the four Gospels. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week.
This weekend at Mass, Palm Sunday is celebrated with the blessing and sharing of palm branches that symbolise the branches placed in front of Christ as he entered Jerusalem.
Project Compassion
We are blown away by the generosity of our school community Project Compassion donations. So far we have raised a total of $779.75. This money assists Catholic Missions to help vulnerable communities around the world and in Australia, to aid them in overcoming the challenges of poverty. We thank you again for your support with this initiative.

ES1 News
Wow, we've had some busy weeks in Kindy lately! In English we have been busy learning sounds, and using these sounds to form words; so far we have learnt a,s,m,i,p,o,n,t! We are getting clever at locating these in text, and writing the letters correctly. In Maths, we have been practising our number knowledge, doing daily number busts, subitising, and counting to 100 through speech, song and use of bead strings. In Science we have looked at using living things as a food source, or to produce clothing and homewares. In Religion we have been learning the very special Bible stories The Washing of the Feet and The Last Supper. And in Creative Arts we completed a guided drawing based on the book ‘Anzac Ted’. We are SO excited for our first excursion next week, so we looked at images of the Cenotaph and had a beautiful discussion about what ANZAC Day is and why we commemorate it.
