Dear Parents and Carers

Hope you have been following camp on the gram. (Apparently I am not allowed to call it insty anymore, so the young ones say!). From all reports we should be going there again. Facilities fabulous, staff excellent with children and activities really challenging in the best of ways. Expecting tired bodies home late this afternoon ( and I mean the teachers!).

Next Monday night if can join us to dream a school we would love to see you for pizza and ideas. Please consider coming along to listen, discuss, share great ideas and actively support your children.

Next Friday the Catholic Schools Office consultant for poperties is coming to visit to look at our playground situation. Stage 1 will be in attendance as the have made maths real this week  measuring and planning potential replacements for all our school. I am not sure how Mr Griffiths will cope with an audience but I really want the children to know that they are heard.

Will keep you posted.

Have a great weekend.

Ann

P. S Please keep an eye on the calendar as there is much coming up in this busy period.

Community Conversation 28th November

https://forms.gle/c5DAoXe8RBqAEeXg7

As advertised in multiple newsletters, on Monday evening we would love to meet as many families/parents as possible to begin dreaming for 2023 and beyond. This is a community conversation to achieve two things

1.  Begin the dream of the School Review for 2023.

2.  Look at potential opportunities for community engagement in 2023.

Babysitting and dinner provided. Yes! Another pizza with friends.

Please register by Monday morning using the link above so that we have enough pizza.

A Little bit of Christmas

FEATURED CLASS - ES1

Religion

ES1 students have been learning that Advent is the time that we prepare for Christmas, with the celebration of the birth of Jesus. We have been reflecting on times in our life when we have had to wait. The Advent wreath is used in church to mark the time of waiting before Christmas. One candle is lit each week leading up to Christmas. Look at the beautiful Advent Wreaths we created!

English

Students have enjoyed experimenting with using digital technologies to construct texts. Our Stage 3 Buddies helped us to login using the school laptops. We have published our writing by creating  Google Docs, typing letters, scrolling, exploring font types and having so much fun. We also created a mixed media artwork using these skills!

Investigations

Welcome to  Santa’s workshop. We are learning how to wrap gifts in the wrapping station. Students are making lists of gifts and drawing diagrams and listing the materials needed to build these popular gifts. This links directly to our science learning where we are learning that objects are made of materials that have observable properties. Billy Curtis drew a diagram of a kite and said “A kite is made of thin plastic and has a light wood frame. It can’t be too heavy or it won’t fly”.
