Dear Parents and Carers

I am late with this joyful announcement but can we welcome Bonnie O'Keeffe to our school community. Family doing well. Emily is loving her time off with the family and we are waiting for the chance to have a nurse!

Congratulations Em, Joe and Paddy.

I have the nicest pictures I would like to share but they are not downloading!!

I know that everyone had a wonderful time at the disco. Thank you to all who attended and organised. The feedback is that the venue was great and we need to thank the Golf Club for their reduced cost for a school event.

I am on and off site a bit for the next week. Please ring the office and leave a message and I will return your call if you need to speak with me.  I leave the school in the capable hands of Mrs Jeffrey, Mrs Dougherty and Mrs Howland and a great staff who will not notice that I am off site a bit.

Cheers

Ann

RE News

Last Friday, 28th October, Year 5 students travelled to McAuley College for the Exuro Catholic Retreat. The one day retreat experience gives students from around the Lismore Diocese the opportunity to come together with Year 5’s from other Catholic schools, to celebrate their faith through participation in games, reflective writing and prayer. All students showed great leadership and represented St James with pride.

The Biggest Thank you - Disco

A big Thank you to Pat and Laurie Day for all their hard work in organising and arranging the School Disco for the past 11 years. As Elly Day is finishing up this year we will miss the family support. Thanks again from us all.

FEATURED CLASS- Stage 1

We love our investigations!

Our learning spaces are busy, busy, busy! Our garden space is in full swing. We have lettuce, carrots, capsicum and herbs all on the go and hopefully we will see them grow in the coming weeks.

English-

Students have been practising their persuasive skills! Have you noticed at home? This week students have been working on a persuasive letter to Ms Dawson. Students have identified something that they would like to have in the school eg. water park, skate park, bigger library. They have been carefully planning their ideas and putting together key points to persuade her.

Maths-

Multiplication has been our key learning focus this week. Students have been exploring creating groups of and rows and column- using that to explore volume in 3D shapes. Students have been using blocks to create the shapes and assist them in their multiplicative thinking.
