Dear Parents and Carers
Stage 2 for the win!!
Today is International Teachers Day. Cross that out! We are celebrating International Staff Day with a theme " Hats off to teachers"
All classes began the day with a little bit of "fun". The children wore their hats into class and when the teachers asked them to take them of they cheered and said "Hats off and Happy International Staff day".
Stage 2 were the best with hats hitting the ceiling and the cheers loud and fun filled.
Thank you to the staff and parents who work tirelessly to build strong partnerships to support the learners in our care.
Can we save another date??
MONDAY November 14th.
I would like to invite all interested parents to another Community Conversation.
We will offer a 2pm meeting and a Pizza Dinner Meeting.
This meeting is two fold.
1. Begin the process of School Review for 2023.
2. Look at planning some community events ( possibilities for 2023).
Would love to see you there if you would like to "get involved"
Have a lovely weekend.

Dogs on Site
Unfortunately many schools have dogs free sites.
The issue arises when dogs are unrestrained and children approach the dogs. We can not monitor any issues when the school is exiting.
We have a duty of care to endure that all children are not at risk.
If parents were able to keep dogs on the western side of the walkway and NOT enter into the shared area it would be worth trying to manage. If we have dogs at whole school events or entering into the shared areas we will need to enforce this further.
Please assist us by
1. Keeping all dogs restrained.
2. Remaining on the western end of the front lawn.
3. Keeping dogs leashed at ALL TIMES
4. Do not allow other children (even friends children) to pat or engage with your dog.
If we can not maintain these boundaries we will need to have a "dog free school"
Disco
This year's school disco will be held at the Yamba Golf Club. Entry is free and each child will be provided with a treat (bag of popcorn and a lollipop).
Previous years we have been able to provide a mini canteen however as this is at a licensed premises, we are limited to what we can bring. A water station will be set up in the auditorium for the children.
Drop off: Parents must bring their children to the auditorium. This is a requirement by the club. No drop offs at the main entrance.
Parents are welcome to stay and seating will be available. Enjoy a nice meal on the deck while your child/ren boogies away. The club has recommended if you choose to stay and eat, order early. We do ask that no bistro food is to be brought into the auditorium.
As this is a school event strictly no alcohol is allowed in the auditorium.
DISCO DRESS THEME: Favourite movie character
Time: 6-7:30pm
We look forward to seeing you there.

“SOCKTOBER” IN OCTOBER
Socktober is a program exclusively run by Catholic Mission, and raises funds for programs benefiting children around the world. Each year, Catholic Mission chooses a focus country to represent how the funds raised through Socktober will benefit children overseas. In 2021, the focus project is in Ehtiopia. With our huge efforts in fundraising on Tuesday at our ‘Crazy Sock Day’, our school community raised $316 to help support the Church’s work in Ethiopia and other developing countries. This money will go to supporting families in Ethiopia facing malnutrition and food insecurity. Catholic Mission teams on the ground will help sustain and enrich the lives of vulnerable children who are in need of our support.

Sport News
Athletics
As was mentioned in last week's newsletter, Will Hutchinson had a fantastic result down in Sydney at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships, finishing second in the Senior Boys Long Jump. This result has qualified Will to compete at the School Sport Australia Athletics Championships in Brisbane on 17th-21st November. It is very rare to have a student from our school reach this level and we are all proud of Will’s success, and look forward to watching him test himself against the best kids in Australia!
Basketball
Stage 2 and 3 students have participated in the Lower Clarence Schools Basketball Gala Days over the past fortnight. It was a good opportunity for those who haven't played before to learn some new skills in a relaxed environment and the feedback from the students was all very positive about the day
Little J's
FEATURED CLASS- Early Stage 1
This week in ES1 we have talked, listened and written about our Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partidge- inspired Memory Boxes. Students have discussed why their objects are special and the memories and feelings these precious objects hold. We are learning to make connections between the text and our own life. Thank you parents for helping us prepare for this task - we have learnt a lot about each other!
