Dear Parents and Carers
Monday was a fabulous day for Saint James as a school community.
To hear the children speak to their peers regarding their aspirations for leadership at the school was a lovely way to begin the week. If you have not seen the video yet it is worth a moment or two of your time. The children see the life of the school in a very different way to parents and staff and this is a great opportunity to hear the student voice.
I sent Mr Dougherty a text 1/2 way through asking him if he intended to vote informally as the children spoke at length about balls over fences and balls needing to be pumped up. I wondered if he might tick all the children who saw that the balls on the field and over the fence as an issue! All jokes aside it is important that we continue to engage with "What is important with our senior students as they are a voice for all." (A new pump had beeen ordered as our current captains have spoken to us about this.)

I have been asked about the style of school reports which we offered in Semester 2. These are in line with the Diocesan guide lines due the interrupted second semester.
What does this mean?
As we report on the outcomes taught over the full semester of 20 weeks, we need to have assessments finalised and notes collated by the end of Week 7,Term 4. Due to COVID we had Blended Learning for 4 weeks. This means we had a maximum of 12 weeks to compare the students learning against outcomes where the teaching programs contained lessons for the full semester. As you can appreciate the blended learning required a shift in the teaching style and access to content.
As such the reports contain learning progress comments for the semester and the engagement of the children in Blended Learning.
See you in Kiss and Drop with fingers crossed for a dry day on Wednesday for the Pool Day.

RE News
As we come to the end of another huge year, we are graced with time to rest, recover and reconnect with God’s creation, looking for hope-filled signs of God’s love, care and attention. Let’s delight in finding signs of God’s love in all things, especially in surprising and unexpected places. May all of our families have a blessed, holy and happy Christmas and a restful break over the Christmas season.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.
Psalm 130:5
Joy to the World (Phil Wickham) - A classic carol that celebrates the joy and sovereignty of God. Let us rejoice in God’s faithfulness and how Jesus’ birth delivers salvation to the earth.

Stage 1
This week we have included some fun Christmas activities to our learning, filling our classroom with festive cheer. Students have shown off their dance moves with Just Dance Christmas, composed their own Christmas songs and poems, constructed 3D shapes and created decorations.
We wish all our families a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
