Cross Country - Wet Weather Plan- clothing plan
If you are newish or new to the school and looking at the weather, you may expect us to cancel the Cross Country and reschedule. We have a wet weather plan which means we will run on... but we will keep children in rooms until their race is on between showers and then clean up!
We all get wet, we are all expecting to be messy but we know that the children will run in difficult conditions at the next level and we will keep them safe, but be muddy.
So... one week out... can we request old shoes on feet, a change of clothes, dry socks and dry shoes in bags, perhaps a towel too! Mozzy spray before coming and if you are attending we would recommend you bring some. I will have heaps available too on the course for adult administration if requested.
Just a heads up.
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to all the families who have attended a Parent conference this week. One of the best ways we can build up the learners in the school, is to build connection with families and teachers. (Preaching to the converted I know!) Thank you to all.
Next Friday, is another community building opportunity ... Cross Country is held at school and we are hosting a BBQ (from the missed Welcome BBQ!) We would love to be overrun with families.
Another opportunity to "get involved" is the next Community Conversation being held at the beginning of Term 2. Term 1 has been a bust with dates and we all want to maintain this agenda. We promise to provide dinner, and babysitting. The group who worked for the past 2 years in this space are very eager to welcome all newcomers.
Please book in below if you are interested. https://forms.gle/CyxH6o6qbq1n8UmG6
In the coming 2 weeks we have many significant events leading into Easter. Tully has a great book for us which tells us all the important things coming up in our faith. Read on below!
Have a dry weekend

Sport News
Swimming
Good luck to Lenny who will be competing at the Polding Swimming carnival in Sydney on Wednesday in the 9yr boys 50m Freestyle. We wish him all the best and look forward to cheering him on via the livestream of the event in our classrooms.
Netball
Yesterday we had Sunny, Remi, Poppy and Iyla playing at the Diocesan Netball trials as part of the Clarence Zone team. Whilst they weren’t selected in the Diocesan team they all had a great day and learnt some valuable skills against strong opposition. Well done girls.
Soccer and Rugby League
The Diocesan Soccer and Rugby League trials originally set down for yesterday were postponed due to the weather. The Soccer trial will now be held next Friday 4th April and the League date to be confirmed soon. Good luck to Joe, Ashton and Jake (Soccer) and Duke (Rugby League)

NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge
The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is an initiative of the NSW State Government. It aims to encourage in students a love of reading for leisure and pleasure and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition, but a challenge to each student to increase their reading stamina. The students in K-2 will automatically participate in the challenge, however, this year students in years 3-6 will be asked to nominate themselves if they would like to participate in this year’s challenge. If your child would like to participate in the PRC for 2025 please notify Mrs Cason or their classroom teacher.
Kind Regards

Stage 1 News
Investigations
Investigations are always a highlight of our learning in Stage One. Our Sassafras Restaurant is thriving, the Writing Workshop is in full swing making books about Lent, the Construction area is busy with small hands planning, designing and building! Mr Doughetry has added a skateboard to Tinkering and now the waiting list is very long! A special “Thanks’ to Ashleigh Vallis for her donations to help us create a Summi Summi Clothing Design Space. In this Investigation area, students are designing, selecting fabrics, measuring and using the mannequin to bring clothing designs to life. The conversations and team work in this space is a joy to watch!
Religion
Father Roland joined Stage One last week to celebrate a Class Mass and answer some student led questions. Students explored the Parable of the Mustard Seed and used their storytelling materials to retell the story. The highlight of the visit would have to be teaching Father the dancing moves to ‘My Lighthouse’. Students have also designed their Lenten promise and they are encouraged to share and discuss this with families at home.
Maths
In Maths we are learning all about measurement. We have been using informal units to estimate and measure the length and area of various objects found at school. Ask us about the most important things to remember when measuring - through trial and error we have come up with a few!
Creative Arts
In Visual Arts this term we have been studying famous artist Andy Warhol. We have learned many interesting things about his life and his art. Did you know he wore wigs everyday AND always ate tomato soup for lunch?!
His Pop Art techniques have been very popular with us all, and all our Andy Warhol inspired artwork has left our classroom looking particularly colourful! Come in and check it out if you get the chance!
