Dear Parents and Carers
As we move into interview week/s next week we are asking all families to get involved. The new system is under conferences on the COMPASS app and can I encourage you to make sure you have selected the correct staff member from each learning area?
I am emailing parents whom we need to adjust this week.
As I am knee deep in enrolment meetings at the moment, I am lucky enough to go on tour in all classrooms. I am still amazed at how settled the children are and how well they focus as learners in each room.
You may have heard a rumour about a demountable being landed at Saint James with the "Diocesan Growth Strategy". It is not a rumour! The installation is within the next term. We will be offering extra Early Stage 1 spaces in 2026. Where? Plans are being drawn up as we speak, When? ready for 2026 intake, Why? because Yamba is seen as a growth area in the diocese. Impact? All of the risk management work is underway as you can imagine. I have the documents available for your viewing but the plans are "concept" at this stage.
Ring if you wish to chat.

PROJECT COMPASSION

We are all fundraising for Project Compassion during the season of Lent. Donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
Please give generously to Caritas Australia this Lenten season and help vulnerable people around the world, now and for all future generations.
With your support, Caritas Australia has been able to assist communities around the world through income generation, water and sanitation, food security, education and disaster risk reduction programs.
Project Compassion reminds us that the good we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow.
Classes will be collecting donations in their boxes for Project Compassion. The class who raises the most money will win a “fun afternoon” with their teachers! Children may speak to you about this initiative and are learning about the people who they are supporting through their donations. Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you for your generosity.

Early Stage 1 News
Wow, what an incredible start to the year we have had in ES1! We’re all so proud of how settled the students are; they have made new friends, adapted to new routines, and are all showing a keen desire to learn!
In Maths we have been learning about features, and this has helped us to sort a wide variety of objects in different ways and to create repeating patterns. We’ve also been practising our subitising skills for numbers 1-6, and have learnt some new games to help with this. In English we are developing a love of stories, and are learning how to make predictions based on pictures and titles and retelling stories using the headings beginning, middle and end. We have learnt 8 sounds now, and are concentrating on forming our letters and saying the sounds correctly. In Religion we’ve been practising the Sign of the Cross, learning about the symbols of our prayer space and have learnt the parables of ‘The Good Shepherd’ and ‘The Lost Sheep’ - we’re loving using our storytelling kits to retell these stories to each other!
