Dear Parents and Carers
Since Miss Dawson has been away this week, attending a school review and a Principal’s Conference, I have the pleasure of stepping in to write the Principal’s Blog for you all!
It’s been another busy week, with the warmer weather settling in and adding some extra heat to our school days. The high temperatures can be tough on our students, so we’re reminding everyone to bring their drink bottles to school each day to stay hydrated, especially during outdoor activities like swimming and surfing excursions.
Our swimming and surfing lessons have continued to be a wonderful success, with students enthusiastically sharing all they’ve learned and the new skills they’ve gained in the water. These activities have been the perfect way to enjoy the warm weather while staying active, and it's been great to see so many of our young ones thriving in these settings. Just a reminder—next week will be our final week for both swimming and surfing, so let’s make the most of it!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our ‘Safe on Social’ information evening for parents on 18th November, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This event offers valuable insights for parents on how to navigate the online world safely and confidently, with practical guidelines on keeping children secure on social platforms. I highly encourage all parents to attend this informative evening. Babysitting services and pizza will be provided to make it easy for everyone to participate! Keep an eye out for our Google form, which will allow you to register for babysitting and pizza, helping us plan the evening smoothly.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and engagement!
Have a wonderful weekend.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal
We are collecting food items for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.
Some families in our community are unable to buy special treats to share with their loved ones at Christmas time and rely on Christmas food hampers from St Vincent de Paul. We are asking for any donations of non-perishable food items to help make Christmas Hampers (see below).
Christmas treats for the hampers include: long life custard, long life milk, plum pudding, blocks of chocolate, Christmas cake, bags of lollies, soft drink, cans of beetroot, pineapple, corn, peas or fruit, packets of jelly, popcorn, chips, nuts, corn chips, salsa, Milo, fruit mince pies, icy poles in plastic, biscuits or anything else you might enjoy at Christmas.
We will also be collecting gift cards for our ‘Giving Tree’ on the ‘A Little Bit of Fun for Christmas’ evening, later this term. These will also be distributed by St Vincent De Paul to people in need of support over the holiday season.
Next week, our Mission Reps from Stage 3 will deliver boxes to each stage & to the front office. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Religion
In Religion this term we are learning about People of Hope. Fr Roland came and visited us to speak about what hope was and we did a mini research project on a person of hope from the Old Testament. We are currently working on an Art Response: Luke 1:38 The Annunciation. Here the children will design, create and journal their artistic response to this scripture passage.
English
This term, we’ve jumped right into an exciting start! Our Year 5 students are busy planning their Captain speeches as part of our Persuasive Writing unit. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to reflect on their journey from Kindergarten to Year 5, thinking about the qualities that make a strong leader. Through discussions, they’re exploring what true leadership looks like. Meanwhile, Year 6 has also embarked on persuasive writing and will soon dive into debates, sharpening their skills in effective argumentation and public speaking. It’s shaping up to be a powerful term of learning and growth
Sport
This term, our sport program has taken to the waves with surfing! Every student is giving it a go, having a great time, and showing steady improvement each week. It’s fantastic to see their confidence and skills growing on the board!
Maths
This week in Mathematics, we kicked off a new unit on 2D shapes! Students are exploring triangles and quadrilaterals, learning to identify, classify, and measure the angles within each shape. It’s a hands-on way to deepen their understanding of geometry.
