RE News
On Wednesday, we were blessed to celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation with several of our students. Fr Roland visited our school to guide us through this significant sacrament. During this special time, our students had the opportunity to reflect on their actions and seek forgiveness, marking an important step in their spiritual journey, and preparing them to receive the Eucharist on the weekend.
We are delighted to share that we have 11 students who will be celebrating a significant milestone in their faith journey: their First Holy Communion on Saturday at St James Catholic Church, Yamba 5:30pm Mass. This special sacrament marks a profound step in their spiritual growth and commitment to their Catholic faith.
As we celebrate this blessed occasion, let us keep our First Communicants in our prayers, asking God to guide them in their journey of faith and to bless their continued growth in God’s love.
Congratulations to Jack, Violet, Elsie, Miles, Ayva, Vivian, Sunny, Ella, Sienna, Jack and Ashton.

Public Speaking Competition
Next Tuesday, September 10th, we will host the School Finals of our Public Speaking Competition in the hall. Students from Stage 2 and Stage 3 have diligently prepared their speeches, and we are excited to have 6 finalists from each year group presenting their speeches to our judges. These presentations will determine which student from each grade will advance to the Grand Final in Coffs Harbour.
The top 4 winners from St. James will represent us in a regional competition, facing off against students from other Catholic schools in the Clarence/Coffs region. We wish all our speakers the best of luck and commend them for their hard work and dedication.
We invite any family members to attend these speeches in the hall on Tuesday. Approximate times are listed below.
9:15am Year 6 speakers, followed by Year 5 speakers.
11:45am Year 4 speakers, followed by Year 3 speakers.

Early Stage 1 News
In English, we have been practising writing sentences that include verbs and adjectives. We are learning to edit our work, checking for misspelled words and missing capital letters and fullstops, and this week we had a go at publishing our work on the computers for the very first time! So impressive!
In Maths, we’ve been working hard to solve problems by comparing, combining, and separating quantities. We’ve been using playdough to do this, which has also been great for developing our fine motor skills.
This week, we had our special visit to Saint James Catholic Church. We celebrated Mass with Father Roland and then went on a tour of the Church to locate all of the special signs and symbols we have been learning about in our lessons.
In Music/Dance (Creative Arts), we are learning about different music and dance styles from around the world. Last week we had a go at dancing the Flamenco from Spain, and we moved our hips to a traditional dance from the Cook Islands. This week we used drums and buckets to play the beat to some of our favourite songs!
We also welcomed a new student to Kindy this week, Cooper!
