Dear Parents and Carers
The electronic sign has been busy this week with lots on!
We were visited by the pre-primary school "rooms “at both Willy Wagtails and Yamba Preschool this week to see what primary school is like and to start putting faces to names for the children joining us in 2025. The staff from both centres are lovely to have visit and we are pleased to maintain and continue to develop these community connections. No matter where these children land we know that they will shine brightly as new learners on their school journey.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we watched with interest as Ashton competed for the Polding team at the PSSA Touch Football Carnival in Wollongong. He looks to have had a great time and we are pleased that we could follow along. Not sure who we can thank for the video streaming but it is a really nice thing to see.
Tuesday and Tuesday evening, the community joined Stage 3 for their Celebration of Learning. It was a great night for senior school to step up and show not just what they are learning but how they learn and the links to their learning with our focus on service, which is so important in our faith. The children were very impressive.
Today we have the celebration of 100 Days of Kindy in the school with all the parents and families joining the lunch, activities and the dance off! A lovely way to acknowledge the learners in our care and their milestone of being part of St James School. I got beaten by Harvey in a Race to 100 dice game and loved every minute of it!
A large number of our senior students are at Angourie Sports Fields today with the Clarence Zone Soccer and Netball Knockout. This was arranged by Mrs Hancock and the children are having a ball!
Next Tuesday, we will be fund and awareness raising for the local St Vincent de Paul. This is in conjunction with the CEO Sleep out and our Winter Warmers appeal. On Tuesday morning everyone will be given some information by our school leaders regarding the work of St Vinnies in supporting the less fortunate in our community.
Next Friday our Little J's starts! Their journey begins with an enthusiastic team who cannot wait to meet them.
Seriously, could life get any busier and active?
See you somewhere soon as there are many opportunities on the calendar!
Ann
Pyjama Day - Tuesday 13th August
Sport News
The school was a buzz this week as we watched Ashton competing in the NSW PSSA Touch Football Championship down in Woolongong. We are so lucky that these events are live streamed so we get the chance to support and watch students at these events. The team played a total of 13 games over three days winning a handful of games. Such a great achievement- well done Ashton!
Clarence Zone Soccer and Netball Knockout
Today 28 Stage 3 students competed in the Clarence Zone Soccer and Netball knockout in Yamba. The day was a huge success. We had eight schools come to the event including schools from Maclean, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Woolgoolga and Bellingen. Yamba had a team in the Boys/ Mixed Soccer division and we had 6 girls play in the All Stars team which was a combination of girls from St James, St Joseph’s Maclean and St Joseph’s Grafton. The students had a great time and it was great to see new friendships being made, awesome sportsmanship and smiles on everyone’s face.
Meanwhile across the road in the stadium we had our girls play in the mixed netball competition. There was some tough competition, but the girls played well and showed great sportsmanship. Thank you to Miss Imeson for her assistance with the netball competition.
A huge thank you to James Dillon who came along and assisted and coached the soccer teams today Also thank you to those families that were able to come and watch a game or two.
Regards
Tash Hancock
Sports Coordinator

The Front Gates! are open just clipped.
You may have noticed a change in the gates. The front gate is not locked but is clipped with a light chain. Please open and close the gate on entry as we are making some changes with the advice of DLCSL and this is a short term solution which will in the near future mean a self closing gate will be installed.
