Dear Parents and Carers
I have had an invitation on my wall from Sarai Waghorn to come and see the "Olympics" this lunch time. Such fun was had by all and I loved the enthusiasm of all the children. What a lovely way to spend a break! out in the sun chatting to kids and watching the entertainment from the children. Thank you Sarai for the invitation! Thanks Tash for the ideas and encouragement.
We had a wonderful St James Day on Tuesday with the support of Wildfire - the diocean worship band. Lovely to see all the photos on instagram and to join with parents and younger siblings for the afternoon " child-centred" liturgy.
As you know all are always welcome and all belong.
On Thursday the reports of the Book Week incursion were magical! I love how our youngest learners are full of wonder and awe when they are invited to a show. Speaking of Book Week! Miss Haines is,as I type, building the props for the staff costume. Are you as organised as we are??? Character Parade is fast approaching.
Off to Kiss and Drop
See you next week
Ann

Feast of St James
This week we celebrated the Feast of St James, our Patron Saint with a special concert, liturgy and workshops with Wildfire worship band. Students loved getting involved in the music and increasing their knowledge of James.
It was wonderful to see some of our families join us for the liturgy after recess. Many thanks to those who attended.
We are already looking forward to our next visit from Wildfire!

This Saturday evening is our school Parish Mass at St James Church, Yamba 5:30pm. We warmly invite any families to join us at Mass on Saturday.

Community Conversation #11
The Community Conversation was very successful on Tuesday evening. They asked that I put in this newsletter the "How to access Pastoral Care support slide" from our Mental Health Parent Night. I want to add the Inclusion Support to the information and I will have this all in next week's news.
Sport News
On Tuesday 34 students represented St James at the Clarence Zone athletics carnival in Coffs Harbour. Events included 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 800m, 1500m, long jump, shot put and relays. It was so pleasing to see the sportsmanship, effort and smiles on the students faces throughout the day. St James finished 4th overall- well done to all participants on such a fantastic achievement.
Huge congratulations to Iyla who won Junior Age Champion at the carnival- well done!
A huge congratulation to the following students who will be progressing to the Dio Athletics Carnival in Coffs Harbour on Friday 16th August- Iyla, Lily, Scarlett, Chase, Ashton, Rashad, Jake and Clarry. We wish you the best of luck and know that your will represent our school and the zone with pride. The full list of the finals results is below.

Stage 1 News
What a busy week we have had in Stage 1. We absolutely loved our Feast Day celebration with Wildfire on Tuesday. Ask us to sing to you the songs we learnt and teach you some facts about Saint James!
On Thursday, Stage 1 were lucky enough to attend a captivating Meerkat Performance. Meerkat Productions specialise in adapting children’s literature for the stage, creating vibrant performances that prompt discussion and debate with students. Thursday’s performance was based on the book ‘Timeless’ by Kelly Canby. The students were absolutely enchanted by the imaginative costumes, engaging prompts, brilliant acting, and the thoughtful post-show discussion that followed. The combination of music, theatre, and literature made for an unforgettable experience.

Other Safety - Accessing the school site
Dear Parents,
Following WHS audit advice from DCSL we are introducing new school access measures during the school day.
The Kiss and Drop, Bus bays and northern walking gate will be closed at 9:00am and reopen at 2:30pm for site access.
The main walking gate which leads up to the office will be closed at the same time but can be opened from the outside for parents/carers who need to access the site (a new opening device will be installed to the outside in the near future).
We thank you for your support, sure in the knowledge that we are all working together to keep all safe on an increasingly populated and busy road where vehicle movements are constant and ever increasing.
If you have any questions or need clarification please contact me.
Thanks
Ann
