Dear Parents and Carers

It has been a wonderful week this week at Saint James. On Monday, we recorded Every Single Day with a real sound guy and music director on site. Such a fun day for all.  Every student was recorded and the sound was fabulous. If you come to the school assemblies on Thursday next week you will hear the performance live. I did hear on Monday that we will have an official launch somewhere and sometime (Karen Evans from DLCSL Pastoral Care Consultant is in charge of that) Will keep you posted. We are super grateful to Rob Imeson for his support and leadership in this project.

The focus of the project is on encouraging students to attend school every single day.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Father Roland Agrisola to our parish as our new Parish Priest. From the sounds of it we will have table tennis challenges as Father Roland is very keen.

Also on Wednesday the new interactivity was installed in all classrooms. New projectors, new boards and vivi units have gone in across the school. We have had this finalised today with the DLCSL in to finish the linking.

All week Mrs Hancock has been running the shotput and long jump competitions in the school, to make sure we could finalise our Athletics Carnival today and plan for the team going forward.

And to today...Some of my highlights were the children who ran in every race to gain point for their houses. The children who never gave up in their races and kept going even though they knew they would not place. The 1500m was quite the highlight. As I said to the children as they ran past me at the 600m mark and 1200m mark "I would have been on the ground by now!"

There were children who ran across the field to "run with another competitor " to get them home and those who are coming home without a voice from cheering all day. Our new Kindergarten children were very vocal in their cheering too.

Congratulations everyone and congratulations Turners on the win. ( see Champions below)

Can I thank the parents who helped on the canteen or on the timing or with the Early Stage 1 activities as well.

I know that no staff member sat down or had a break today to make sure we can have a carnival where all children can compete. Thank you all. Most of us were not game to sit down as we were unsure that we could get back up! I know I speak for all families when I offer my heart felt thanks.

Look out over this evening/tomorrow morning as I finalise the semester reports on COMPASS. They are slightly different as the diocese is setting up systemwide reporting.

See you next week

Ann

We thank you for your support and generosity.

ES1 News

We’ve had a busy few weeks in Kindy! We now know 20 sounds, and use these daily in reading and writing. We are getting so brave at trying to spell unknown words to add detail to our work, it’s very impressive. In Maths, we've been learning the important topic of number pairs/number bonds/friends of 10! We've been consolidating our new knowledge with some hands-on rotations, which has been a lot of fun learning. Check out our Visual Arts masterpieces below! We read the book "Not a Stick" , then put our imaginations to the test, using a stimulus (stick) to create an artwork.
