Dear Parents and Carers
A Heartfelt Farewell to Fr. Nicolas Maurice
Father Nicolas announced to the parish this week that he has been transferred to Tweed Heads. As we bid farewell to our beloved Parish Priest, Fr. Nicolas, we reflect on the incredible impact he has had on our school community. From the moment he joined us, Fr. Nicolas has been a beacon of faith, compassion, and unwavering support. His presence has enriched our lives in countless ways.
Fr. Nicolas's welcoming nature made him a cherished member of our school family. Whether he was leading a school Mass, visiting classrooms, or simply sharing a kind word with staff on his Wednesday morning tea visits, his genuine care and concern were always evident. He has guided us through times of joy and challenge, always reminding us of the strength and comfort found in our faith.
As Fr. Nicolas embarks on his new journey, we want to express our deepest gratitude for his service and support. His teachings and example have inspired us to live our faith more fully and to embrace each day with kindness and compassion. We will miss his gentle guidance and his unwavering belief in the goodness of every person he encountered.
We wish Fr. Nicolas all the best for the future.

SACRAMENTS
Confirmation
We are thrilled to announce that next week, several of our students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Mary’s Church, Maclean. This significant milestone in their spiritual journeys will be celebrated in a special ceremony presided over by Bishop Greg next Monday 17th June, 6pm.
Our students have been diligently preparing for this important sacrament during their Religion lessons in class and retreat day last week. These experiences have deepened their understanding of the Catholic faith and strengthened their commitment to living out its teachings.
During the Confirmation Mass, each student will be anointed with chrism oil and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This anointing will signify their strengthened bond with the Church and their readiness to take on greater responsibilities within their faith community.
We invite all families, friends, and members of the parish to join us in supporting our students during this special time. Your prayers and presence will be a valuable part of this sacred occasion.
Congratulations to our Candidates; Sienna (Absent), Maeve, Mila, Ivie, Jack J, Cruz, Lola B, Declan, Dolly, Finn G, Rocco, Cleo, Jackson C and Molly. May the Holy Spirit guide you and inspire you as you continue your faith journey.
The order of Sacraments in the Lismore Diocese is: Baptism, Confirmation (Year 3), Reconciliation (Year 4), First Eucharist (Year 4). All preparation is undertaken at school.
If you are interested in your child/ren being Baptised, please contact the Maclean Parish Office on 66451188 Mon/ Wed/ Fri 9am-2pm.

Sport News
Congratulations Ashton!
This week Ashton headed to Parkes to play for the Lismore Diocesan Touch Football Team. The team played a total of 5 games against teams from other Diocese. Ashton demonstrated great skill in his first two games by scoring a runaway try and demonstrating great defence- making multiple tags on the line. Ashton made it into the possibles where he played a 6th game where the final selections for the Polding Touch Football Team would be made. In his final game, Ashton scored 3 tries and has been named in the Polding Touch Football team and will play in the NSWPSSA Touch Football Championships- Congratulations Ashton!!!
Rugby 10’s Gala Day
On Wednesday a team from Stage 3 headed to Coffs Harbour to compete in the Lismore Diocese Rugby 10’s Gala day. We played against teams from Sawtell, Skenners Head, Macksville, Bowraville and Port Macquarie. The students demonstrated tremendous team work and great sportsmanship. The team consisted of some experienced players along with first timers (who I think we might say are now hooked). It was so great to see the students giving it a go and improving every game.
A huge thank you to Adrian Miller and Scott Moore for coming to Coffs Harbour to coach the kids.

Stage 2 Canteen Garden
It's fantastic to see students actively involved in growing vegetables for our school canteen. Not only does it promote healthy eating habits, but it is also teaching the students valuable lessons about sustainability and self-sufficiency. The Stage 2 Science Unit “Growth and Survival" allows the students to link the learning outcomes to the plants in our vegetable garden and gain practical knowledge around plant life cycles. It has also helped the students learn the skills of counting money. I'm sure Carly, our canteen manager, is eagerly awaiting the fresh produce for her winter menu. It'll be interesting to see how the lettuce and carrots will be incorporated into the dishes. Perhaps some delicious salads, tacos or bolognese?

In science we have been exploring how the rotation of the earth gives us day and night. As well as how the axis and the revolution of earth gives us seasons. Ask us about the experiment using a globe and a torch! Our research continues as we begin to create information posters about our awesome earth.
