I'm a bit nervous!
If the newsletter looks a little different it is because it has come from the principal's desk! Mrs Commerford is away. Last time I did it there was a section in Latin at the end of the page! Hope I do better today!
Dear Parents and Carers
A big week this week at Saint James.
On Monday, the Stage 3 worked with a songwriter looking at how we can represent the learning and values of Saint James in song. The goal is to encourage children to be positive about coming to school, particularly those for whom this is a challenge. In 2 weeks time the first/second "draft" of the song will come back to me to hear and thenit will be released to the children. The choir will then learn the song and the whole school will learn the chorus. From here, everyone will be audio recorded professionally so that the song can be released across the diocese.
The children were exceptional and their responses valuable. Thanks to all the staff who supported the preparation for the "happening".
Next week is another big one!
Monday is a Writer's Workshop for Long Way Home; Tuesday is Diocesan Cross Country; Wednesday is quiet! (don't tell anyone!), Thursday is Netball Schools Cup and Friday is getting over Thursday's Disco. A big week!
Today I have had a visit from some little learners with a song and some pictures. My door is once more covered with artworks from small friends. Today's best comment- "Are we your friends who come on down for stickers and to make you smile with our art? " Pretty much children, pretty much!
Have a lovely weekend!

Tell Them From Me
This week our children and staff have completed the Tell Them from Me Survey which takes place each year across the diocese.
All parents are also invited to complete the survey which looks at how we can best enact our School Improvement agenda and how we can best serve the learning and learners in our care.
The survey runs for another week and we welcome your input.
The link is live and active, and we would love to hear from you.
Stage 2
This term in Creative Arts, Stage 2 students are learning all about Drama!
This week, worked on our performance skills using the game ‘Say it in another way’, the students had to say the nursery rhyme ‘ Humpty Dumpty’ in a variety of ways for example say it in a toddler voice, say it like you are angry, it was a lot of fun! We are also making and rewriting popular fairy tales to create fractured fairy tales. The students had two choices, Cinderella or the Paperbag Princess. We will be recording these new stories as i-movies.

Just a thought from Winnie the Pooh
"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.
There was a pause.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.
"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."
"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.
"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.
"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.
"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."
And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."
