Dear Parents and Carers
As you read this all the Stage 3 and some staff are preparing for their big adventure in Canberra. While this seems a big trip, the excursion is so very enjoyable and worthwhile. The children will visit places and see things which are not part of a usual holiday in Canberra and these things are actually fun with your friends to see.
We will keep you updated through Instagram!
I mentioned at the Assemblies this week that we are looking for some help from some able bodies to assist in the placement of the new soccer posts. We have had 2 sets engineered and these have been delivered and are ready to be installed. What does that mean? I know we need to do some postholes and some concrete but I am aware that there is more to it! I am NOT a builder or a landscaper or a hardscaper. All support gratefully accepted.
Lots to read below about the end of year.
See you on the gram!
Ann

Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Mini Vinnies is collecting food items for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.
Some families in our community are unable to buy special treats to share with their loved ones at Christmas time and rely on Christmas food hampers from St Vincent de Paul. We are asking the St James families to please donate any of the following non perishable food items to help make Christmas Hampers.
Christmas treats for the hampers include: long life custard, long life milk, plum pudding, blocks of chocolate, Christmas cake, bags of lollies, soft drink, cans of beetroot, pineapple, corn, peas or fruit, packets of jelly, popcorn, chips, nuts, corn chips, salsa, milo, fruit mince pies, icy poles in plastic, biscuits or anything else you might enjoy at Christmas.
Next week our Mission Reps from Stage 3 will deliver boxes to each stage & to the front office.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Stage 1 News
Maths
Stage 1 has been learning about multiplication and division in mathematics. Students have been learning how to make equal groups of, share into equal groups and skip count to solve problems. Just ask us to further explain how multiplication and division are inverse operations.
Science
In Science, we have been observing changes in the sky and learning about the different types of clouds. This week we investigated how the sun moves across the sky and is observed through changing shadows. We traced the flagpole shadow on the concrete at different stages during the day. We discovered the shadow was at its shortest at noon when the sun was directly above us and the shadow was longer in the morning and afternoon. Ask us to explain the Earth's rotation!
Book Club
REMINDER - Scholastic Book Club orders must be submitted by Friday 24th November. Booklets were sent home this week.
