Dear Parents and Carers
At the end of a busy term (when are they not!) we have certainly finished with a bang!
The Colour Run was a great success and as Henry said at the Assembly on Thursday, Stage 3 are most grateful for your support in getting to Canberra. The fund raising for this was led by Mrs Hancock ably supported by all staff and on the day my greatest joy was the parental involvement in the BBQ and the "gently application” of water and chalk.
My best observation is that the first 10 children through the course arrived at the last station with "some" colour on their t-shirts. By the next group through and progressively as the groups came through, the parents and staff aimed better, faster, harder and with greater purpose.
Who had the most fun? I think it may have been a toss-up! If you look carefully at the instagram story you can see how much fun was had by ALL on the course.
Can we once again thank all families for their support in the school and with all the agendas we bring forward. Next term seems to have some cultural events, off-site sport, excursions, retreats and learning all rolled into the days and we know that the year will end with a continued focus on serving together as a community of learners.
Mrs Anne Maree Lewis has taken Term 4 on leave and Tracey Aumuller will be in the role of RFF for the majority of the term.
The teaching teams for the 2024 school year will be finalised in the first week after the holidays. There will be some changes but not major. At this stage we know that the ES1 will be Miss Haines. Stage 1 will be Mrs Ferguson, Miss Imeson and Mrs Petersen (job share/ AP Teaching and Learning), Stage 2 will be Mrs Kelly and Mrs Forde with HPL support from Mrs Dougherty, Mrs Hancock will remain on S3. Mrs Howland will join Mrs Hollington on RFF as well as her AP Mission position. Mr Dougherty will be on leave travelling around Australia in 2024 and returning for the 2025 school year.
Administration, Library and Intervention Support(teachers and aide staff) will remain substantially the same. Mrs O'Keeffe remains on family leave.
Have a great break
Ann

Focusing on Reading Comprehension for Holiday Activities
PPP-C Stands for Pause, Prompt and Praise for reading comprehension. We use PPP-C to focus on the meaning of what is read rather then decoding words. This should be done for a few minutes each day.
Stop your child reading after every couple of paragraphs and ask three questions about what has been read. The questions can be Who? What? Where? When? and Why? If your child is reading very quickly and does not appear to be understanding what has been read, ask them to slow the pace and ask the five questions after one or two sentences.
