Dear Parents and Carers

What a week we have had!

-Diggers on site (a backhoe for the tradies amongst us) setting up the base for our playground.

-The children receiving Confirmation joined with St Joseph's Maclean students for a retreat.

-A Meerkat production to "get us in the mood!" for Book Week.

-Our sign has had a refresh and our electronic sign is FINALLY ordered. (Anyone who has been at the school for a while, knows how I feel about the sign!! Hint- I call it purgatory)

And all this, while our learning continued unabated. Schools are funny places. Dynamic in nature and diverse in activity.

If you look above at the What's on Section the next few weeks look to be very full .  I am planning to take a deep breath and lean in, enjoy to moments and chase the learning. ES1 told me today was 105 as  a learner. I should not have but I did... A fun fact for all... 86 days of learning to go for us all.  Lean in, let's go!

The first item on our agenda is the School Review team within the school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to work with the staff and students on how we can further develop the improvement agenda. Have you noticed the missing piece in that conversation? Would you like to/be available on Wednesday afternoon to speak with the team? If you are interested could you please let me know and I will sort out times and such. Will it be scary? No, the team will be asking how you see the school improving into the future.

We know that families have responded to the Tell Them From Me and are part of the Community Conversations and this is another way to support your children.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Ann

RE News

Confirmation

On Wednesday our Confirmation candidates joined with candidates from St Joseph’s Primary, Maclean to attend a retreat day in Maclean. This retreat prepared candidates for their upcoming Sacrament of Confirmation and allowed them to consolidate all of their learning about Confirmation this term. We wish these students all the best in their final weeks of preparation.

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be held in St Mary’s Church, Maclean on Tuesday 15th August, 5:30pm.

The order of Sacraments in the Lismore Diocese is: Baptism, Confirmation (Year 3), Reconciliation (Year 4), First Eucharist (Year 4). All preparation is undertaken at school.

If you would like your child to receive these Sacraments, please contact Mrs Howland at school ASAP. We are currently finalising numbers for the parish office.

For your child to receive any of these Sacraments they must first be Baptised. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

If you are interested in your child/ren being Baptised, please contact the Maclean Parish Office on 66451188 Mon/ Wed/ Fri 9am-2pm.

Stage 2 News

Science

This term in Science we are learning about weathering and erosion. This week, Stage 2 took to the playground in search of erosion around our school. Students in Stage 2 were able to identify erosion around the school and were starting to think of some strategies to help. Mrs Hollington found a great resource where we were able to go on a ‘virtual excursion’ and have a look at erosion throughout the world.

Reader’s Theatre

This term in Stage 2 we are learning about Readers’ Theatre in Drama. We have really enjoyed having a go and watching our peers perform. We even had a go at performing some Readers’ Theatre in Religion, telling the story of The Prodigal Son. Whilst having lots of fun, we have been gaining confidence speaking in front of an audience, working on projecting our voice and using expression.
